How Ayurveda Cleanses and Rejuvenates the Body

Vaidya Jay's Notes · 100 Years Jay · Athreya Herbs

The Cleanse & Rejuvenate Protocol

The Four Herbs + The Booster

What this protocol is about

Four classical Ayurvedic herbs working as two pairs. Cleanse first, rejuvenate after.

Cleanse — Triphala Tablets and Athreya Green Detox Powder gently clear the channels of the body.

Rejuvenate — Pure Shilajit Tablets and Ashwagandha Lehyam rebuild energy, stamina, and the deeper tissues.

In Ayurveda this order matters. You cleanse the vessel before you fill it.

Take the four together as the Rejuvenate Booster, or weave them into your daily routine one at a time.

In Ayurveda we have a saying. You cleanse the vessel before you fill it. Decades of practice have taught me that this order is not a stylistic choice. It is how the body actually responds to nourishment.

If we add tonics and energizers to a system that is still carrying old residues, the body cannot absorb what we are giving it. The work is wasted. But if we first allow the channels to clear, the same nourishment lands in a different way. It is the difference between watering dry soil and watering soil that is already saturated.

Cleanse with Triphala and Detox Greens. Rejuvenate with Shilajit and Ashwagandha. That is the order. That is the protocol.

Part One — The Cleanse

Triphala & Detox Greens · Clearing the Channels

The first half of the protocol is about removing what does not belong. In Ayurvedic language we call these residues ama — partially digested matter that accumulates in the channels when digestion is sluggish or the diet is heavy. Ama dulls the senses. It weighs on the joints. It interferes with the body's ability to receive nutrition.

Triphala and our Green Detox blend work together to address this gently, over weeks rather than days. Neither is a harsh laxative. Neither asks the body to do something dramatic. They simply support the body's own intelligence.

Triphala Tablets

Three Fruits · The Foundational Cleanser

Triphala Tablets benefits panel — three fruits formula for gentle daily cleansing.

Triphala is the most famous formula in all of Ayurveda. Three fruits — amalaki, vibhitaki, and haritaki — combined in equal measure. It has been taken in India for thousands of years as the gentle, daily companion to good digestion.

What I love about Triphala is how unassuming it is. It does not announce itself. It does not produce a dramatic effect. It works in the background, day after day, supporting the natural rhythm of elimination so that the body can do what it already knows how to do.

"Athreya Triphala has been a constant staple in my supplement regime. I have found this to the best quality and I only trust Athreya! Triphala has become a supplement I don't want to be without!"

— Pamela

Athreya Green Detox Powder

Bitter Greens · A Modern Ayurvedic Cleanser

Green Detox is one of the formulas I am most proud of. It blends classical Ayurvedic cleansing herbs — neem, manjishta, guduchi, and others — into a single daily powder. The bitter taste is part of the work. In Ayurveda bitter is the taste that helps the liver, clears the skin, and lifts a heavy mind.

Athreya Green Detox Powder — bitter greens blend for gentle daily cleansing.

A spoonful in warm water before breakfast is enough. Over weeks you may notice clearer skin, better digestion, and a more even temper through the day. These are not dramatic shifts. They are the kind of shifts that compound over months and years.

"Green Detox has been part of my daily routine for the past few years and this has really changed the way I feel, look, and carry a positive outlook every day. The quality of the product is impeccable, and there is attention to detail in mastering the old traditions for mixing the formula."

Part Two — The Rejuvenate

Shilajit & Ashwagandha Lehyam · Building the Deeper Tissues

Once the channels have been cleared, the second half of the protocol begins. This is the work of rasayana — the rejuvenation that builds the deeper tissues. In Ayurveda this is not stimulation. It is steady, layered nourishment of the body's reserves.

Shilajit and Ashwagandha are two of the most respected rasayanas in the classical tradition. Both have been used for centuries. Both are quiet. Neither will produce a buzz or a spike. What they do is rebuild what the body has spent.

Pure Shilajit Tablets

Himalayan Resin · The Source of Energy

Pure Shilajit Tablets — Himalayan resin pressed into convenient daily tablets.

Shilajit is a mineral-rich resin that seeps from the high cliffs of the Himalayas. It carries the long memory of decomposed plant material, transformed by pressure and time into one of the most potent rejuvenators in classical Ayurveda. We take this resin and press it into tablets so that the dose is consistent and the daily ritual is simple.

In classical texts shilajit is credited with restoring vigor, supporting cognition, and lifting fatigue that has settled into the body over years. It is the kind of rejuvenator I would recommend for anyone in the second half of life, or anyone whose work has worn down their reserves.

"Since beginning to take Shilajit my quality of health has improved both physically and mentally. It rapidly and notably improved my mood, energy, and focus. It is a famed Ayurvedic medicine for good reason, and Shilajit will be your new best friend once you make its acquaintance. I can't see ever going back to not having Shilajit being part of my morning supplements."

— Nina Cornejo

Ashwagandha Lehyam

A Classical Herbal Jam · Strength & Steadiness

Lehyam is the classical Ayurvedic format for herbal jams — slow-cooked preparations that combine herbs with ghee, honey, and supportive aromatics. They are designed to be carried by these vehicles deep into the tissues. A spoonful in the morning, often stirred into warm water or milk, is the traditional dose.

Ashwagandha Lehyam — classical Ayurvedic herbal jam preparation.

Ashwagandha itself is the great adaptogen of Ayurveda. It is the herb I recommend most often for stamina that has been depleted, for sleep that has become thin, and for nerves that have been worn down by too many years of pushing. In the Lehyam form it carries an additional warmth and depth.

"The perfect way to start my day. Mixed in a cup with hot water and sipped before breakfast. And the taste is surprisingly fine! I also appreciate the value of the large jar. It should last a good while."

Vaidya Jay's Notes

What does "cleanse and rejuvenate" mean in Ayurveda?

It is a two-step approach to wellness. First the body's channels are gently cleared of accumulated residues. Then the deeper tissues are rebuilt with rejuvenating herbs. The order matters because nourishment cannot reach tissues that are still carrying old residues.

Which two herbs are the cleansers?

Triphala Tablets and Athreya Green Detox Powder. Triphala is the classical three-fruit formula for daily, gentle elimination. Green Detox is our modern blend of classical cleansing herbs — neem, manjishta, guduchi, and others — formulated for daily use.

Which two herbs are the rejuvenators?

Pure Shilajit Tablets and Ashwagandha Lehyam. Shilajit is the mineral-rich Himalayan resin used for restoring vigor and lifting long fatigue. Ashwagandha Lehyam is the classical herbal jam preparation of Ayurveda's great adaptogen, supporting stamina, sleep, and nerve health.

How long does the protocol take?

There is no fixed length. Many of our community take the cleansers daily as part of their routine and add the rejuvenators in the morning. Others use the protocol seasonally — a focused four to six weeks at the change of seasons. Either approach is valid.

Can the four herbs be taken together?

Yes. The cleansers and rejuvenators work well at the same time. The traditional rhythm is cleansers before breakfast on an empty stomach, rejuvenators with or after the morning meal.

What is the Rejuvenate Booster?

The Rejuvenate Booster is the complete four-herb protocol as a single set — the same four products grouped together for the people who want the full cycle in one purchase.

Are these the same products you would recommend to your own patients?

Yes. Every formula in this protocol comes from the same line I designed for daily use in my own practice. They are simple, classical, and meant to be taken steadily.
