What Does Ayurveda Say About Black Pepper Powder?

Black pepper is widely used as a spice in many cultures, and in Ayurveda, it is used as a carrier of other herbs to different areas of the body. These positive effects are the reason why it is an integral part of traditional trikatu formulation.

As an Ayurvedic supplement, it aids in digestion, circulation, and stimulating the metabolism by maintaining healthy secretion of digestive juices. These actions promote metabolism and support the regular and healthy functioning of the digestive system. When accompanied by a balanced diet and regular exercise, these benefits can support optimal weight management.

Also, when we take it with other herbs and supplements, Black Pepper Powder encourages the natural assimilation of nutrients in the body for optimal health.

Additionally, its phytonutrient composition supports our natural defense system in producing the right immune response to support removal of free radicals. Subsequently, this helps the body deal with occasional inflammation, external stressors, and other disruptions. This way, it helps support vitalization of several organs such as the stomach and liver.

It encourages the regular functioning of the respiratory system by aiding the body’s maintaining a clear respiratory tract. It includes lungs, nasal cavities, and the throat. The healthy elimination of toxins and protecting the respiratory membranes from occasional build up of Kapha helps to breathe easily.

Also, its bioactive nutrients support skin rejuvenation and a youthful glow.

The dry and light qualities of the herb effectively balance Vata and Kapha doshas levels for the optimal health and wellbeing of your body.

Due to its wide-ranging and numerous health benefits, Athreya Herbs uses Black Pepper Powder in other Ayurvedic supplements, such as in herbal lehyams, grithams, powders, and capsules.

At Athreya, we harvest Black Pepper in the Coorg region of Southern India. Its climate, high altitude, rainfall, and humidity have the best conditions for growing this aromatic spice. It turns into a red orangish color when it ripes, that is the optimal period for harvesting black pepper fruit.

The pungent active principles and volatile essential oils are highly potent at that time. It is when it gets its black color. After harvesting, we ensure that black pepper fruit is not exposed to direct sunlight and always shade-dried. Also, our farmers handpicked the mature pepper fruit for drying. After drying, black pepper fruit is pulverized into powder in small batches to maintain its freshness and potency.

Our expert practitioners (Ayurvedic Vaidyas classically trained in India) have selected only certified organic sources for Black Pepper Powder. Additionally, our organically grown Black Pepper comes from best topographical organic farms. That way, we ensure that the farmers do not use pesticides or toxic chemicals during the harvest or processing.

We also source fresh ingredients, cultivated in the ideal topographical environment. Such careful sourcing increases the quality of the ingredients and the effectiveness of the supplementation.

While we source ingredients from India, we process the product in the USA. That way, we can guarantee that you have access to whole foods and traditional products. It has simple dark green leaves which are arranged alternately, have a leathery texture and an oval shape. The black pepper itself comes from the fruit of this plant, which is an oval drupe with green, unripe peppercorns that turn red as they ripen.
