Habit Seven · The Nasal Oil · lightly edited for clarity

And now comes the nasal oil, which we call in the traditional Ayurvedic formula Anu Thailam, the nasal oil. This is a game changer. When you put these few drops in the nose every night or during the day, depending on when you find time, it will really help you to open up the nasal passages and breathe better and lubricate the nasal mucosa. So this is really wonderful stuff when I'm traveling. It keeps my traveling so good.

Habit Eight · The Ear Oil (Bala Thailam)

Next item is ear care. So we have this amazing Bala Thailam, or healthy ear drops. Simple routine. One or two drops into the ears, just smear it in. Excellent for keeping your audibility going and helps with dry ears, and also great for generally ear tube and ear canal.

Habit Nine · The Hair & Scalp Oil (Neelibringadhi Thailam)

And the king of all the routines is the scalp and the body massage. So we start the scalp massage or the head massage with Neelibringadhi oil. Neelibringadhi oil is the celebrated oil for scalp health, hair health and also health of the head and neck region in general.

Quick Answer

What is the Ayurvedic routine for the head and senses?

It is chapter three of dinacharya, the Ayurvedic daily routine: a few drops of Anu Thailam in the nose, one or two drops of Bala Thailam into the ears, and Neelibringadhi oil massaged into the scalp. A few minutes, after the morning face routine. Every piece comes in the Daily Routine Box, and each is also available on its own.

What is Anu Thailam, the Ayurvedic nasal oil?

A classical formula, and the one Jay reaches for first when he travels:

"When you put these few drops in the nose every night or during the day, depending on when you find time, it will really help you to open up the nasal passages and breathe better and lubricate the nasal mucosa."

How it is used: a few drops of Healthy Nasal Oil (Anu Thailam) from Athreya in each nostril, at whatever hour of the day you find the time.

Simply, and in seconds. Jay’s whole instruction is two sentences long:

"Simple routine. One or two drops into the ears, just smear it in. Excellent for keeping your audibility going and helps with dry ears."

One or two drops of Healthy Ear Oil (Bala Thailam) from Athreya, smeared in. That is the entire habit.

Habit Nine · The Hair & Scalp Oil

Which oil does Ayurveda use for the scalp?

Neelibringadhi, and Jay calls the massage itself the high point of the whole routine:

"And the king of all the routines is the scalp and the body massage. Neelibringadhi oil is the celebrated oil for scalp health, hair health and also health of the head and neck region in general."

The Healthy Hair Oil (Neelibringadhi Thailam) from Athreya is worked into the scalp with the fingertips, then down the length of the hair.

Healthy Hair Oil, Neelibringadhi Thailam
★★★★★ “Six months ago I lost all all of my hair because of stress and chemical processing. So I started fresh with cleanly shaven head and began using this Neelibringadhi Thailam 2x per week for 2 hours each treatment. I didn't think that some of the bald patches would grow back but they did. My hair is naturally curly and now, chemical free. I continue to use this oil 2x per week and am extremely happy with the shine, strength and hydration that my hair now has in its natural state.”
